Summary
Pure, natural vitamin K2 dissolved in olive oil
K-Pearls capsulesVitamin K2 K-Pearls are small, soft gelatin capsules with 75 µg of pure vitamin K2 (menaquinone MK-7) in each capsule. Vitamin K2 is dissolved in cold-pressed olive oil for better absorption. The capsule size makes the K-Pearls easy to swallow, but you can also chew them.
In nature, vitamin K is found in both a trans and cis form, which is related to the spatial structure of the molecule. It is only the trans form of MK-7 that is biologically active, whereas the cis form has no biological activity. An all-trans form is present in the vitamin K2 K-Pearls, which makes them even more biologically active.
Vitamin K belongs to the group of fat-soluble vitamins along with vitamins A, D, and E.
Vitamin K was discovered by the Danish nutrition researcher Henrik Dam in 1929, which later earned him the Nobel Prize. The vitamin was given the name vitamin K, where the K stands for “coagulation”, i.e. H. Blood clotting is the most important ability of our blood.
It later became clear that there are 2 main types of vitamin K: phylloquinone (K1) and menaquinone (K2). In addition, there is a synthetic type of vitamin K called menadione (K3), which is not used in dietary supplements.
Vitamin K2 is found in various forms from MK-4 to MK-14. Forms MK-10 and above are very rare. The numbers indicate the length of the side edge of vitamin K, a so-called isoprene. Usually only MK-4 and MK-7 are used as dietary supplements.
Illustration of the vitamin K2 MK-7 molecule
Since vitamin K2 can stay in the body longer than vitamin K1, vitamin K2 is more effective when used in dietary supplements.
Vitamin K is quickly converted in the body, but also quickly excreted, and we only have a small storage of vitamin K in the liver, spleen and lungs. Infants do not produce vitamin K, but they receive it preventatively from their mother.

Where vitamin K2 cannot work, calcium is of significant benefit for our bone structure. Our bones are constantly building up and breaking down. Whether it breaks down more than builds up depends on our age, mobility and diet.
Vitamin K2 is particularly responsible for the transport of calcium into the bone system. Bone-forming cells called osteoblasts produce a protein called osteocalcin, which activates vitamin K, helping calcium from the blood and blood vessel walls bind to bone tissue, supporting normal bone function.
Vitamin K also plays an important role in the complicated blood clotting process. Vitamin K is necessary for the formation of prothrombin and other blood clotting factors called factors VII, IX and X.
