Summary
The dry eye or keratoconjunctivitis sicca is a common disease in Germany and affects 15 - 17% of the total population. The dry eye is a tear film and the surface of the eye due to many factors. The tear fluid is essential for the health of our eyes because it wettes the surface of the eye, keeps it smoothly and smoothly, flooded out foreign bodies and fends off bacterial infections. It also supplies the horn and conjunctiva with oxygen and nutrients. If the quality or quantity of the tear fluid is disturbed, the subjectively disruptive symptoms appear.
These include tired, burning, itchy and scratching eyes, increased tears of tear, sensitivity to light, reddening of the conjunctiva and the feeling of dryness. The dry eye is usually a chronic disease that should be treated early to avoid consequential damage. For this purpose, medical wetting solutions with hyaluronic acid - such as Vismed® - have proven themselves for more than 20 years. The preparation is free of preservatives and therefore very well tolerated. Vismed® can also be used for daily moisture for chronic symptoms with a damaged tear gland.
Turn off the clamping cap, tilt your head slightly back and keep the drip opening over the eye to be treated. Pull the lower eyelid of the eye down with the index finger of a hand. A drop of the Vismed® solution is released by slightly pressing. Unless otherwise recommended, as required, 1-2 drops of Vismed® drop into the conjunctiva bag. Do not bring the tipper in contact with the eye or touch with your fingers. The solution is distributed evenly by the eyelid and forms a transparent and durable fluid layer on the surface of the eye. Do not use damaged ampoules.
hyaluronic acid is an body's own fabric that, as a part of the tear fluid, ensures that moisture can be stored and nutrients can be transported. With their special physical and chemical properties, bio-technologically produced hyaluronic acid solutions are similar to the natural tear fluid. They are therefore very popular in ophthalmology to treat the dry eye. The Vismed® product contains 0.18% hyaluronic acid.
pregnant women and women in menopause are subject to hormonal fluctuations and changes. These can favor dry eyes and cause unpleasant symptoms.
Different risk factors influence the production of the tear fluid. This includes, for example, diabetes mellitus, dermatological and rheumatism, as well as radiation of the head. Taking certain medication can also have a negative impact on the tear film.
Rauch, ozone, wind, dust and cold influence the quality and quantity of the tear film. Dry heating air and the stay in air -conditioned rooms can also favor dry eyes.
