Summary
Almost every airline passenger has experienced it at some point: an unpleasant feeling of pressure or even pain in the ear when the plane lands. Sometimes hearing is impaired for days after the flight.
At cruising altitude, there is only an air pressure in the aircraft cabin that corresponds to that on a mountain at an altitude of around 2000 m. During landing, the air pressure in the cabin increases very quickly again.
In this situation, the ear also has to react. The Eustachian tube, a tube-like connection between the nasopharynx and the middle ear, has to ensure that the air pressure in the middle ear increases again through a so-called active opening.
If this does not happen quickly enough, the eardrum will bulge and cause pain.
SANOHRA fly was specially developed with the aim of protecting the ear from rapid and strong changes in air pressure, such as those that occur in
or a
.
When used in good time before landing or descent, the hearing protection forms a small chamber in the ear canal in front of the eardrum. A special, high-precision filter delays the increase in air pressure in this small chamber.
Even if the Eustachian tube can only provide a delayed or limited active opening for pressure equalization to the middle ear, the buffering effect in the chamber does not lead to a painful bulging of the eardrum.
This relatively simple principle requires a high-precision filter that extremely limits the air flow into the chamber so that the desired buffering effect can actually occur.
This distinguishes SANOHRA fly from simple noise protection plugs, which unfortunately are also offered by some manufacturers with the information that they are intended for use when flying, without having any effect against changes in air pressure.
If you also felt ear pressure and ear pain during take-off and climb, we recommend putting your hearing protection in before take-off and only taking it out again approx. 30 minutes after take-off.
Only then is the cruising altitude normally reached and the pressure conditions in the cabin no longer change until the descent begins. By the way, for short-haul flights of less than 1 1/2 hours, we recommend wearing SANOHRA fly throughout the entire flight, especially since the hearing protection also has a noise-dampening effect.
You should definitely insert the earplugs 45 minutes before the planned landing because the air pressure in the cabin increases quickly again as soon as the aircraft leaves the cruising altitude and begins to descend.
It is recommended that you only take out the SANORA fly when you reach the airport building in order to give the Eustachian tubes enough time to equalize the pressure.

Almost every airline passenger has suffered it at some point: an unpleasant feeling of pressure or even pain in the ear when the plane lands. Sometimes hearing is impaired for days after the flight.
At cruising altitude, the air pressure in the aircraft cabin is only equivalent to that on a mountain around 2000 m above sea level. During landing, the air pressure in the cabin increases very quickly again.
In this situation, the ear also has to react. The Eustachian tube, a tube-like connection between the nasopharynx and the middle ear, must ensure that the air pressure in the middle ear increases again through a so-called active opening.

Even if the Eustachian tube can only open with a delay or a limited amount of pressure to equalize the pressure in the middle ear, the buffering effect in the chamber prevents the eardrum from painfully bulging.
This relatively simple principle requires a high-precision filter that extremely limits the air flow into the chamber so that the desired buffering effect actually occurs
