Summary
100% Arabica beans of the Red Bourbon and Jackson varieties Altitude between 1,550 m and 1,900 m Taste of light nougat Notes of mandarin and grape
Description
The Arabica beans for the Rwanda Umusazi filter coffee belong to the varieties Red Bourbon and Jackson. They are grown in the Ngororero district in the Torero region in north-western Rwanda. The organization Community Coffee Rwanda has been supporting the local small farmers with the harvest since 2019. There is a lot of rain in the Ngororero region, which presents some challenges when drying the coffee cherries. The Arabica beans from altitudes between 1,550 and 1,900 m are fermented in tanks for between 48 and 120 hours, before they are then dried for 27 to 31. After sorting three times, the carefully selected beans of wild coffee are roasted brightly. This elicits a taste of light nougat from the filter coffee, accompanied by notes of mandarin and grape.
