Nasal spray to reduce swelling of the mucous membranes in case of colds and hay fever




The preparation is used in the nose (rhinological agent) and contains the alpha-sympathomimetic xylometazoline.
Xylometazoline has vasoconstricting properties and thus causes mucous membrane swelling.
The medicine is intended for adults and children from 6 years of age.
The medicine must not be used
if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to xylometazoline hydrochloride or any of the others Components of the preparation are
in a certain form of chronic cold (rhinitis sicca)
in conditions following surgical removal of the pineal gland through the nose (transsphenoidal hypophysectomy) or other surgical procedures that expose the meninges
in children under 6 years of age.
Always use the preparation exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not completely sure.
Unless the doctor prescribes otherwise, the usual dose is:
For adults and children aged 6 years and over, one spray is administered into each nostril up to 3 times a day as needed.
Duration of use
The preparation should not be used for longer than 7 days.
Re-application should only take place after a break of several days.
Continuous use of This medicine can lead to chronic swelling and eventual loss of the nasal mucosa.

If you have used more than you should

Constriction of the pupils (miosis), dilation of the pupils (mydriasis),

If you suspect an overdose, please contact your doctor immediately. This can initiate the necessary measures if necessary.

Take special care when using the medicine
if you are being treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or other medicines that potentially increase blood pressure,
if you have increased intraocular pressure, especially angle-closure glaucoma,
severe cardiovascular diseases (e.g. coronary heart disease) and high blood pressure (hypertension),
if you have heart disease (e.g. long QT syndrome),
tumor of the adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma),
metabolic disorders such as: B. Overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) and diabetes (diabetes mellitus),
Metabolic disease porphyria,
Prostate enlargement
Use for chronic colds may only be used under medical supervision due to the risk of loss of the nasal mucosa.
Children
The preparation contains an active ingredient concentration that is intended for adults and children from 6 years of age and therefore not for infants and children under 6 years old. Appropriate nasal sprays with a lower content of the decongestant active ingredient xylometazoline hydrochloride are available for the age group of children between 2 and 6 years.
Ability to drive and use machines
No impairments are expected if used as intended.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
As the safety of using the medicine during pregnancy and If breastfeeding is not sufficiently proven, you may only use the preparation on the advice of your doctor and only after the doctor has carried out a careful risk-benefit assessment.
The recommended dosage must not be exceeded during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as an overdose can impair the blood supply to the unborn child or reduce milk production.
Reproductive ability
There are no known negative effects on reproductive ability when treated with xylometazoline hydrochloride.
The medicine is intended for nasal use.
Important: When using for the first time, operate the spray mechanism several times until a fine mist emerges.
Insert the spray head as vertically as possible into the nostrils and pump once each time. After use, wipe the spray head for hygiene reasons and put the protective cap back on.
When using the preparation with other medicines
Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using other medicines or have recently taken/used or intend to take/use other medicines.
If the preparation is used at the same time as certain mood-enhancing medicines (monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). Tranylcypromine type or tricyclic antidepressants) as well as drugs that increase blood pressure, an increase in blood pressure can occur due to effects on cardiac and circulatory functions.
