The nasal spray contains the active ingredients xylometazoline hydrochloride and dexpanthenol. Xylometazoline narrows the blood vessels and causes the nasal mucosa to become swollen. The additional active ingredient dexpanthenol is a derivative of the vitamin pantothenic acid, which promotes wound healing and protects the mucous membranes.
To reduce the swelling of the nasal mucosa in the event of a cold and to support the healing of skin and mucous membrane damage (lesions), episodic runny nose (rhinitis vasomotorica) and to treat nasal breathing obstruction after surgical procedures on the Nose.
For use in children between 2 and 6 years of age.
If you do not feel better or feel worse after 7 days, contact your doctor.
The nasal spray must not be used
if you are allergic to xylometazoline hydrochloride or dexpanthenol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
if you suffer from a dry cold (a chronic cold that leads to a dry inflammation of the nasal mucous membranes with bark formation).
if you have recently undergone a neurosurgical procedure (transsphenoidal hypophysectomy or other surgical procedures that expose the meninges).
in children under 2 years of age.
Always use this medicine exactly as described or exactly as discussed with your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose for children between 2 and 6 years of age is 1 spray into each nostril up to 3 times a day as needed. The dosage depends on the individual sensitivity and the clinical effect.
Duration of use
The nasal spray should not be used for longer than 7 days, unless the doctor expressly orders further use.
Re-application should only take place after a break of several days.
The doctor should always be consulted about the duration of use in children.
Continuous use of this medication can lead to chronic swelling and ultimately to the loss of the nasal mucosa.
Patients with increased Intraocular pressure (glaucoma, especially angle-closure glaucoma) should consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the nasal spray is too strong or too weak.
If you have used a larger amount than you should
e.g. B. as a result of an overdose or accidental ingestion, the following effects can occur:
Constriction of the pupils (miosis), dilation of the pupils (mydriasis), fever, sweating, pallor, blue lips (cyanosis), nausea, cramps, heart and circulatory disorders, such as. B. Cardiac arrhythmias (tachycardia, bradycardia, cardiac arrhythmia), circulatory collapse, cardiac arrest, high blood pressure (hypertension); Pulmonary dysfunction (pulmonary edema, breathing disorders), psychological disorders. In addition, drowsiness, low body temperature, reduction in heart rate, shock-like drop in blood pressure, stopping breathing and loss of consciousness (coma) can occur.
If you suspect an overdose, please contact your doctor immediately. This can take the necessary measures if necessary.
If you forget to use it
Next time, do not use twice the amount, but continue using it as described in the dosage instructions.

Warnings and precautions

if you are being treated with certain medicines for depression called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or with other medicines that may potentially increase blood pressure (e.g. doxapram, ergotamine, oxytocin).
if you are with antihypertensive medicines (e.g. methyldopa).
if you suffer from increased intraocular pressure, especially angle-closure glaucoma.
if you suffer from heart disease (e.g. long QT syndrome), coronary heart disease or high blood pressure (hypertension).
if you suffer from a tumor of the adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma).
if you have metabolic disorders such as: B. If you suffer from an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) and diabetes.
If you have a metabolic disease called porphyria (a metabolic disorder that affects the skin and/or nervous system).

Children

Pregnancy
There are no sufficient data for the use of xylometazoline hydrochloride and dexpanthenol in pregnant women. Therefore, the medicine should not be used during pregnancy.
Breast-feeding
It is not known whether xylometazoline and dexpanthenol are excreted in breast milk. A risk to the infant cannot be ruled out. A decision must be made as to whether breastfeeding should be discontinued or whether treatment with the product should be avoided/treatment with it should be discontinued. Both the benefit of breastfeeding for the child and the benefit of the therapy for the woman must be taken into account.
Reproductive ability
There are insufficient data on the effects of xylometazoline and/or dexpanthenol on reproductive performance in humans.
This medicine is intended for use in the nose. After removing the protective cap, insert the spray opening into the nostril and activate the pump once. Breathe calmly through your nose while spraying. After use, carefully wipe the spray head with a clean paper towel and put the protective cap back on.
Notes:
Before the first use and after a treatment break of more than 7 days, activate the pump several times until an even spray mist is released. The dosing spray is ready for immediate use for subsequent applications.
Carefully blow your nose before using the nasal spray. It is recommended to use the last dose of the day before going to bed.
For hygiene reasons and to avoid infections, a spray bottle should only be used by one person.
Use with other medicines
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or plan to take/use other medicines.
If this nasal spray is used at the same time as certain mood-enhancing medicines (MAOIs). Tranylcypromine type or tricyclic antidepressants) as well as medicines that increase blood pressure (e.g. doxapram, ergotamine, oxytocin), an increase in blood pressure can occur due to effects on the heart and circulatory functions.
Due to the possible vasoconstrictor (blood pressure-increasing) effect of xylometazoline, this medicine must not be used together with medicines that lower blood pressure (e.g. B. Methyldopa).
