    The Beurer PO 45 pulse oximeter, for the practical self-control of your arterial oxygen saturation, your heart rate and your perfusion index - at home and on the go. With the PO 45 pulse oximeter from Beurer, you can measure your values reliably, easily and painlessly. Oxygen saturation (SpO₂), heart rate (pulse), as well as perfusion index (PI) are easily displayed on the colour display. In the event of a restless measurement, you will be informed by a symbol display, so that the measurement can be carried out again for reliable values. The oxygen requirement of the body. The human organism needs approx. 400L Oxygen (O2) (Source: Rosemarie Baumann, Physiology) Oxygen keeps the cells of the body alive and functional. To transport this amount of oxygen, a transport agent is required, the haemoglobin. The hemoglobin contained in the red blood cells accumulates the oxygen. The organs are supplied with oxygen via the blood circulation. The colour of the blood allows conclusions to oxygen saturation: light red: high oxygen saturation. Dark red: low oxygen saturation. The oxygen saturation indicates how much percentage of the hemoglobin in the arterial blood is loaded with oxygen. It is therefore an important parameter for assessing respiratory function. In people with a low oxygen saturation value, there are increasingly the following symptoms: shortness of breath, heart rate increase, power loss, nervousness and sweat outbreaks. You can find out this using measurements in different conditions, such as activity level or measuring location. In general, the perfusion index can be between 0.3% and 20%, but the optimal value is different from person to person. Measuring range: the pulse oximeter can be used in the measuring range of: SpO₂: 70 – 100%, pulse: 30 – 250 beats/minute, PMI: 0.3 – 20%. The following measuring accuracy is achieved: SpO2: 70 – 100%, ± 2%, pulse: 30 – 250 bpm, ± bpm. Beats /minute. PI: 0.3% - 1%; ± 0.2 digits; >1.1% ± 20% Important: Do not use the pulse oximeter with plaster bandages, nail polish or other cosmetics. The arterial blood pressure changes constantly over the course of a heart cycle. The indication of blood pressure is always in the form of two values: the highest pressure in the cycle is called systolic blood pressure. It occurs when the heart muscle contracts and thus the blood is pressed into the vessels.
