Description
The Konjac Sponge or Konjac Sponge is made from the tuber of the Asian plant devil's tongue “Amorphophallus Konjac”. The devil's tongue is a species of plant from the arum family (Araceae). In Austria the devil's tongue is also called the tear tree. The tuber is called konjac root.
Konnyaku or konjac is cultivated for food in Japan and Korea, but there are also wild forms that occur naturally in many parts of China, Korea and Japan. The wild forms typically grow at high altitudes and are therefore particularly pure and free of harmful substances.
Konjac is known for its health-promoting properties and has been used by the Japanese for more than 1,500 years, although it was originally used as medicine in the sixth century. The ground rhizome of the devil's tongue produces konjac flour, which is also used in Asian dishes (glass noodles) and is used as a thickener in the food industry.
In addition to water, konjac also contains the fiber glucomannan and has the highest known water-binding capacity of all natural products: it can Bind 50 times the amount of water of its own mass. Even though konjac is rich in minerals and low in calories, the sponge is of course not edible. These are just a few facts about the plant for the curious among us.
But for more than a century, the Japanese have also used konjac root as a beauty treatment for their sensitive skin. Initially designed for babies, it quickly became clear that the konjac sponge is beneficial for the whole family. The Konjac Sponges are not only suitable for dry and sensitive skin, people with hypersensitive skin also benefit from the gentle fabric of the Konjac sponge.
Konjac is a naturally moisture-rich plant fiber that is naturally alkaline and therefore reduces the acidity Skin that has blemishes and oily skin. Konjac also contains only good things for the skin: water, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, sodium, potassium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, copper, panthotenate, niacin, fatty acids, folic acid, zinc and also vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, E and D.
The unique network structure of the sponge gently massages the skin and stimulates blood circulation and the formation of new skin cells - for clean and refreshed skin. And all in a natural way. You don't need any additional facial cleanser or soap - unless you absolutely want to. If you decide to also use a cleanser or soap, you will only need a fraction of the usual amount because the sponge creates more foam and distributes the cleansing product on the skin better than usual.
