Summary
Kenyan filter coffee Toffee-like, sweet enamel Grown in the Gathage Village Creamy mouthfeel Arabica varieties SL28 and Ruiru 11
Description
The Kenya Gatage of the Bremen roastery Azul is a Kenyan filter coffee. The coffee beans were grown about 50 kilometers north of Nairobi in Kiambu County. The Gathage Farmers Cooperative Society is located in the Gathage Village. With their 200 smallholder members, the members produce Kenyan specialty coffees there. The farmers can benefit from the dark red, volcanic soils of the region, which offer a particularly rich and nutritious substrate for the coffee plants. In Gathage, coffee production is in the Sense of care and tradition. It is waited until the optimal time of harvest and then each ideally ripe coffee cherry is picked by hand. The cherries are then sorted in order to then separate the beans from the pulp and process them washed. The parchment coffee dries on raised beds in the sun up to a residual moisture of 10- 12%. Then they are transported to the dry Mill and prepared for export. The Kenya Gathage filter coffee is a great, aromatic coffee with notes of blackcurrant. Particularly convincing is the sweetness reminiscent of toffee and the creamy-creamy mouthfeel.
