    Stabilizes all three layers of the tear film
    patients who suffer from dry eyes, complain of tired, red and burning eyes. Other frequent symptoms are scratches, unpleasant feeling of pressure and swollen eyelids. The dry eye is widespread and is one of the common diseases in Germany. About 15-17% of the overall German population suffer from dry eyes-whereby women are affected more often than men.
    Around 60-80% of patients suffer from the so-called hypervaporative form of the dry eye. This is a disturbance of the lipidal components of the tear film. The tear film evaporates too much because the protective lipid layer (fat layer) is damaged. The clinical picture of the so-called Meibom gland-dysfunction* is now regarded as one of the main causes of dry eyes. The secretion of the Meibom glands sitting on the edge of the lid prevents excessive evaporation of the tear film and stabilizes it at the same time. Meibom glands that are not optimally functioning and a disturbance of the lipid layer lead to a disturbed tear film. The consequence are dry eyes. To treat dry eyes, eye drops with hyaluronic acid and lipids - such as Hylovis® Lipo Multi - have successfully proven themselves.
    The tear film is simply viewed of three layers. An outer lipid layer, the aqueous middle layer and the inner layer of Muzin. The tear film adheres to the corneal surface due to the muzin or mucus layer. The aqueous layer forms the middle layer and makes up most of the tear film. It contains not only water but also important nutrients, hyaluronic acid and
    oxygen for supplying the surface of the eye. The outer lipid layer is produced by the so-called meibom glands and prevents the tear fluid evaporating, it stabilizes the tear film. Due to the innovative combination of hyaluronic acid and selected lipids, Hylovis® Lipo Multi has an effect on all three layers of the tear film immediately after application. The lipids close the gaps in the lipid layer and thus stabilize the tear film. Hylovis® Lipo Multi can therefore effectively help relieve the symptoms of dry eyes.
    In the event of a defective lipid layer, gaps arise through which moisture evaporates from the aqueous layer.
    The wetting solution closes the gaps in the lipid layer, the aqueous layer and the Muzin layer are stabilized by the hyaluronic acid.
    The causes can be very different. Dry eyes can be attributed to external influences (e.g. dry environment, air conditioning, ozone, dust), internal influences (e.g. diabetes, rheumatic diseases, hormone changes) and taking certain medication (e.g. anti-baby pill). The tear film is often disturbed in its composition and thus evaporates more, this is often due to a meibom gland-dysfunction.
    The Meibom glands are sebaceous glands that are located on the edge of the eyelids. If a meibom gland dysfunction is available, they are blocked or inflamed. As a result, the production of the lipid layer of the tear film is disturbed, which faster evaporates. This can lead to dry eyes. Watering eyes can be an indication of a meibom gland dysfunction. The difference is the dosage form: HYLOVIS® Lipo Multi is offered as a multi-dosing bottle of 10 ml, Hylovis® Lipo is offered as a practical single-dose-dose of 0.4 ml. However, the formulation of the contained solution is the same in both forms of dosage. So every user can decide which one he prefers to use.
    The human body consists of 60 percent of water. Water is essential for the body and fulfills versatile tasks. Therefore, it should be drunk in principle, but even in dry eyes.
