Medicinal honey:
After sterilization, chestnut honey is a rich source of vitamins and minerals, especially calcium, magnesium and potassium.
Honeypatch honey contains a high proportion of sugar (at least 80%) and a low proportion of water (maximum 17%) as well as a low pH value (acidic).
All these properties lead to a very high osmotic activity in the wound and reduce the growth of microbes.
Calcium Alginate:
The alginate substrate of the dressing is obtained from a brown seaweed, upon contact with which the exudate forms a gel, keeping the wound in a moist environment.
Alginates are characterized by their exudate-absorbing properties, which are based on a Exchange of sodium ions from the wound with the calcium ions of the plaster, which induces an additional hemostatic effect and thus promotes the healing process.
Effectiveness:
- Creation of a moist environment that promotes wound healing.
- Reduction of Risk of infection in the wound.
- Reducing the unpleasant odor
- Stimulating the washout of necrotic tissue.
- Stimulation of granulation
- Stimulation of epithelialization
- Stimulation of wound healing without scarring
- No sticking to the wound
- No pain during repairs (dressing changes).
- Easy to use
- No damage to the tissue around the wound.
- For the treatment of a wide range of wounds in different stages of wound healing
- For the treatment of chronic wounds that heal poorly or slowly
- Surgical wounds
- Traumatic wounds
- Burns
- Diabetic ulcers
- Pressure ulcers
- Infected wounds
- Malodorous wounds
- Colonized wounds in a critical stage
- Moist necrotic wounds
It is recommended to treat the wound and its surroundings with e.g. B. physiological fluid or another suitable liquid.
After opening the sterile packaging, remove the transparent protective film on both sides of the bandage.
Then place Honeypatch Moist on the clean wound.
Then place a bandage over it (secondary bandage), which can also be very absorbent in the case of a heavily exuding wound, otherwise e.g. B. a polyurethane film. Cover the wound with a fixing bandage.
In the initial phase of wound healing, it is recommended to change the bandage every two days, or even daily if the exudation is very heavy, as this will reduce the effectiveness of the medicinal honey.
For wounds that exude little The dressing should only be changed twice a week.
Make sure the dressing comes into contact with the wound to ensure optimal osmotic activity.
The patch can be cut to the desired size or placed in the wound be folded.
When remaking (changing) the dressing, moisten the wound with warm water and soap or with physiological fluid. Carefully remove the alginate and dry the wound edges before applying a new dressing.
If fibrin is present, it must be removed by medical personnel before applying a new dressing.
In rare cases, it may be done immediately A slight tickling or burning sensation may occur for a few minutes after the bandage has been applied. If this feeling ever persists for a long time and affects the patient's acceptance, it is recommended to switch to a different type of dressing.
Although allergies to honey are rare, people with an allergy to honey or bee venom are advised against the use of medical products that contain honey , not recommended.
Clinical testing of Honeypatch for the treatment of open wounds has been conducted in patients with diabetes. These tests showed very good tolerability and very good results. However, the treatment should be carried out under medical supervision.
