Description
Honeypatch Moist compresses are sterile wound compresses made from calcium alginate soaked in medicinal chestnut honey. They are suitable for treating a wide range of wounds at different stages of wound healing, particularly for the treatment of chronic wounds that heal poorly or slowly. The wound compresses are available in sizes 10 x 10 cm and contain 20 g of medical honey.
MD 93/42, class IIb, excluding annex 4 EEC, sterile.
Medicinal honey:
Chestnut honey is a rich source of vitamins and minerals (especially calcium, manganese and potassium). Honey has a high sugar content (min. 80%), a low water content (max. 17%) and a low pH value. These properties are responsible for the great osmotic activity in the wound, which creates an inhibitory environment for the growth of microorganisms and thus promotes wound healing.
Calcium alginate:
Alginate compresses are made from brown sea algae and form upon contact with wound secretions a gel that maintains the physiological moisture of the wound. Alginates have a high ability to absorb wound secretions, an exchange between sodium ions from the wound and calcium ions from the compress takes place. This ion exchange causes an additional hemostatic effect.
Advantages:
- enable moist wound healing
- reduce the risk of wound infection
- reduce unpleasant odor
- actively support wound cleaning
- stimulate Granulation and epithelization
- promote wound healing without scarring
- do not stick to the wound and enable painless dressing changes
- are easy to use, the wound environment remains unaffected
- Surgical wounds
- Wounds after injuries
- Burns
- Leg ulcers
- Diabetic ulcers
- Pressure ulcers
- Infected wounds
- Wounds with strong odor
- Critically colonized wound
Remove after opening Remove the transparent protective films from the sterile packaging and apply the Honeypatch Moist compresses to the cleaned wound.
Then apply a secondary dressing that has sufficient absorption capacity for heavy wound secretion, such as highly absorbent compresses or compresses made of PU foam, for less Compresses made of fibers or PU film can be used for wound fluid.
Apply a fastening bandage over it.
Change the compresses every two days at the beginning of the treatment, or every day if there is heavy wound secretion, otherwise the activity of the wound fluid honey is reduced. For wounds with only a small amount of exudate, it is sufficient to change the compresses twice a week.
Apply the Honeypatch Moist compresses so that they are in as close contact as possible with the wound in order to achieve the best osmotic activity.
Honeypatch Moist compresses can be cut or folded according to the size of the wound.
Before each dressing change, the wound should be cleaned of any fibrin deposits and dressing residues.
Although honey allergy is not common, people with a confirmed allergy to honey or bee venom should not use it of honey and honey dressings.
The clinical tests of wound healing with Honeypatch Moist compresses in diabetics show very good experiences and results, but the treatment should still be carried out under medical supervision.
The compresses are intended for single use. The compresses have a shelf life of three years from the date of manufacture.
