1. What are Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 i.e. effervescent tablets and what are they used for?
Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 I.E. effervescent tablets are a calcium vitamin D3 preparation for proven calcium and vitamin D3 deficiency as well as for the supportive treatment of osteoporosis.
2. What should you consider before taking Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 i.E. effervescent tablets?
Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 i.E. effervescent tablets must not be taken:
if they are allergic to calcium carbonate, vitamin D3 or one of the other components of this medicine mentioned in section 6.
with increased calcium content of the blood (hypercalcemia).
In the case of increased calcium excretion in the urine (hypercalciurie).
for kidney limestone.
in the case of tissue calcification of the kidney (nephrocalcinosis).
with restricted kidney function (renal failure).
In the case of overfunction of the ancillary thyroid gland, which is usually based on an ancillary thyroid adenoma with an increased parathormone release (primary hyperparathyroidism).
with vitamin D overdose.
with multiplem bone marrow tumor (myeloma).
for daughter tumors in the bone (bone metastases).

Warnings and precautionary measures:

During long-term therapy, serum and urincalcium levels and kidney function must be checked regularly. If necessary, your doctor can reduce the dosage or interrupt the treatment, depending on the measured values.
In patients who suffer from a disturbed kidney function, calcime D3 600 mg/400 I.E. effervescent tablets are to be applied with caution. The serum and urincalcium level should be checked in these patients.
Additional intake of calcium and vitamin D may only be carried out under medical control including a weekly review of serum and urincalcium levels.
Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 i.E. effervescent tablets should only be used with caution in patients who suffer from sarcoidosis, since the risk of increased conversion of vitamin D into its active form. The calcium levels in the blood and urine should be monitored in these patients.
Before taking Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 i.E. effervescent tablets, the amount of calcium and alkali already taken should be observed, such as carbonates from other sources (food, enriched food and other medicines). If calcium-rich products are used at the same time with carbonates, this can lead to a milk alkali syndrome (Burnett syndrome). Milk alkaline syndrome is a calcium metabolism disorder with an increase in calcium levels in the blood (hypercalcaemia), the ignorance of the blood (metabolic alkalosis), kidney failure and soft tissue calcification. Therefore, an additional administration of Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 i.E. effervescent tablets may only be carried out under strict medical control with regular checking of the calcium levels in blood and urine.
Taking Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 I.E. Breath tablets together with other medicines:
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have recently applied other medicines or intend to use other medicines.
while treatment with digitis glycosides, cardiac arrhythmia can occur. Strict medical control including ECG examination and control of the calcium blood level is therefore required.
while taking diuretic means of the fabric group of thiazides, the serum calcium level should be checked regularly, since thiazides restrict the excretion of calcium with the urine.
The absorption and thus also the effectiveness of various antibiotics such as tetracyclines, quinolons, some cefalosporins as well as many other medicines (e.g. the mushroom ketoconazole, iron, sodium fluoride, estramustine, bisphosphonate preparations) is used by simultaneous taking of Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 i.E. effervescent tablets. The absorption of aluminum and thundering salts and thus also their toxicity is increased by the citric acid contained in Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 i.e. A distance of at least 2 hours should usually be adhered to between taking calcime D3 600 mg/400 i.E. effervescent tablets and the intake of other preparations.
Between the administration of Colestyramin and Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 i.E. effervescent tablets should be kept at least 2 hours, otherwise the vitamin D will not be absorbed correctly.
simultaneous administration of calcimed d3 600 mg/400 i.e. effervescent tablets and rifampicin, phenytoin, barbiturate or glucocorticoids can lead to a reduction in effects of vitamin D.
Taking Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 I.E. effervescent tablets together with food and drinks:
Please note that dairy products have a high calcium content. A liter of milk can contain up to 1200 mg calcium. This should be taken into account when taking Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 i.E. effervescent tablets. Oxalic acid (contained in spinach and rhubarb) and phytine acid (contained in whole grain) can inhibit the calcium absorption by forming insoluble connections with calcium ions. Patients should not take calcium-containing medicines with a high content of oxal or phytic acid within two hours after the absorption of food.
pregnancy and lactation:
If you are pregnant or breastfeed, or if you suspect that you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. During pregnancy, a daily intake of 500 i.E. Vitamin D should not be exceeded. Therefore, no more than 1 effervescent tablet Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 i.E. effervescent tablets (400 i.e. vitamin D) must be taken. So far, no risks in the specified dose area are known. Long-lasting overdoses of vitamin D must be prevented during pregnancy, since the resulting hypercalcemia (increased calcium concentration in the blood) can lead to physical and mental disabilities as well as congenital heart and eye diseases of the child. Vitamin D and its metabolic products pass into breast milk. An overdose in the infant generated in this way has not been observed. Calcium passes into breast milk in small quantities without having a adverse effect on the child.

The recommended dose is: Adults take 1 effervescent tablet twice a day (1 effervescent tablet in the morning and in the evening, accordingly 1200 mg calcium and 800 i.e. vitamin D3). The effervescent tablet is dissolved in a glass of water and drunk immediately. You can take Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 I.E. effervescent tablets for eating or between meals. Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 I.E. effervescent tablets should be taken in the long term. Talk to your doctor how long you should take Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 i.E. effervescent tablets.
If you have taken a larger amount of calcime d3 600 mg/400 i.e. effervescent tablets than you should:
an overdose can lead to nausea, vomiting, pathological thirst, increased urine formation or constipation. If you suspect overdose, please inform your doctor immediately. This may take the necessary measures.
If you have forgotten the intake of Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 i.E. effervescent tablets:

After taking Calcimed D3 600 mg/400 i.E. effervescent tablets, constipation, bloating, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea can rarely occur. Itching, hut and rash can rarely occur. In the first few months of the administration of calcium there is an increased calcium excretion in the urine, which can favor stone formation.
