It is used at:
compensation of combined vitamin D and calcium deficiency in older patients.
- as an addition to an osteoporosis treatment in which the vitamin D and calcium levels are too low or there is a high risk of this.
2. What do you need to consider before taking calcigen D effervescent tablets?
Calcigen D effervescent tablets must not be taken
- if they are hypersensitive (allergic) against calcium carbonate, vitamin D, soy, peanut or one of the other components of calcigen D effervescent tablets (see section 6).
- If calcium concentrations are too high in the blood (hypercalcemia) and/or increased calcium excretion in the urine (hypercalcuria).
- If you have the prerequisites that lead to hypercalcemia and/or hypercalcuria [e.g. B. Overactive parathyroid glands, a disease of the bone marrow (myeloma), a malignant bone tumor (bone metastases)].
- if you are affected by kidney failure.

-if you suffer from vitamin D overdosing (hypervitaminosis d).
Special caution when taking calcified D effervescent tablets is required
During long -term treatment with calculated D effervescent tablets, the calcium level in the serum and by measurements of the serum creatinine should be checked regularly. This review is particularly important in older patients and at the same time treatment with heart glycosides (e.g. digoxin) and diuretics. Based on the results obtained, your doctor can recommend reducing your dose or even canceling treatment. However, the dose should be reduced or the therapy is temporarily interrupted if the calcium excretion via the urine exceeds 7.5 mmol/ 24 hours (300 mg/ 24 hours). Before taking Calcigen D effervescent tablets, the amount of vitamin D, calcium and alkali such as B. carbonate from other sources (e.g. nutritional supplements or food). Since these products already contain vitamin D and calcium carbonate, the additional intake of calcigen D effervescent tablets can lead to burnnet syndrome. Burnet syndrome (milk alkali syndrome) is a calcium metabolic disorder with an increase in the blood-calcium mirror. It can be triggered by absorbing very large amounts of milk and/or calcium carbonate from other sources or by excessive use of antacids (agent against stomach acidification). This can lead to side effects as listed in section 4. Therefore, an additional administration of calcigen D effervescent tablets under strict medical control with regular checking of the calcium levels in blood (calcaemia) and urine (calciurie) must be carried out.
Before taking Calcigen D effervescent tablets, you should consult with your doctor or pharmacist
- if you suffer from kidney stones.
- If you suffer from an illness of the immune system (sarcoidosis), since the calcium level must be checked in blood and urine.
- If your movement is restricted and you suffer from a reduced bone mass (osteoporosis). This can increase your blood calcium level so much that side effects can occur.
- If you also take other vitamin D3 or calcium -containing preparations. Your blood calcium level can increase so much that side effects can occur.
