    Peppermint: The bright green, aromatic leaves of peppermint have a cooling and refreshing effect with their invigorating aroma and high menthol content. The peppermint is a hybrid (crossbreed) of watermint and spearmint. It is one of the longest cultivated plants of mankind and has been proven to have been cultivated in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. In the seventeenth century, Nicholas Culpeper already wrote that peppermint is the most useful medicinal herb for 'ailments of the abdomen, like winds', for which there are 'few remedies that are more effective.
